Towelzies Sustainability Statement

Towelzies is committed to assisting salons reduce their costs, save time, and improve their environmental impact – and in order to do so, we are committed to providing you with the highest quality sustainable product that will provide the lowest environmental impact.

Supply Chain

Towelzies are made form a new generation of super- absorbent non-woven fabric produced entirely from cellulose. We have visibility throughout our supply chain and work with supply partners who share our commitment to minimise environmental effects.

All cellulose is supplied from a leading global supplier of cellulose pulp which is produced from certified sustainable forests (similar to New Zealand Radiata). Cellulose is converted into a non-woven fabric in an ultra-modern facility using the lowest environmental impact processing systems.

All towelzies are 100% biodegradable. At the end of their life we recommend Towelzies are composted, where they will complete the natural cycle of plants returning to the soil.

We wish to provide our customers with the comfort of knowing that the environmental improvement they are making by not continuously washing unsustainable cotton or microfiber towels - will not be diluted by greenhouse gas emissions generated by our business operations during the 2020 financial year.

The carbon footprint of our business operations for the 2020 financial year, has been calculated by EKOS. This includes emissions from ocean freight, company vehicles, courier deliveries, electricity use, travel and the potential emissions from the waste disposal of Towelzies themselves. We have offset these business operations emissions by purchasing a corresponding volume of carbon credits from EKOS supply chain for the period between 1.8.19 to 1.8.20.

Although we highly recommend towelzies are composted and therefore not produce human caused anthropogenic greenhouse gases – we cannot be certain how many Towelzies will in fact end up in a landfill because of their re-use or contamination, or because composting was impractical. We have therefore chosen to calculate Towelzies waste emissions on the basis that all Towelzies will go to landfill and have offset 100% the emissions that could be generated from that.

We are very pleased to use EKOS credits that are generated from the growth and protection of indigenous forests in New Zealand. These forests also help deliver waterways protection, erosion control, biodiversity conservation and community economic development.
